The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim Proficiency Diploma Program

The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim Proficiency Diploma Program is a partnership between Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation, Tsleil-Waututh Nation, and the Sníchim Foundation, offered in collaboration with SFU. The program is designed for people who have already have some knowledge of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim and have completed the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim Proficiency Certificate or equivalent training / mentorship in the language.

The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim Proficiency Diploma is an accredited diploma program through Simon Fraser University (SFU).

There is a vital need in our community for more teachers with advanced levels of proficiency in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim. We aim to hire recent graduates of the diploma program in order to retain teachers and continue to expand the language. It is our hope that through empowering intermediate learners to engage in opportunities as language assistants, mentors, and eventually as language teachers, we are able to provide opportunities for previous students to practice the language and develop their own fluency.

How To Apply

The diploma program will not be offered in 2022.

Donate

The Sníchim Foundation runs on funding from government, foundations, and philanthropists, but we can do more with donations from the public. With your generous support, our organization is able to do this essential and urgent work, and your donation will directly fund initiatives like our Language Centre Fund and support job creation for graduates of the diploma program as new language teachers.

We are grateful for every dollar donated to support our very special and sacred work.
